Open the large
upper library cage.

One shelf gap upstairs. Another on the cage’s floor. Follow the books used in a recorded opening, then match the large gate’s visible result.

The short answer

In the reviewed run, Koko’s Sapphic Adventure goes into the upper-gallery bookshelf gap, then The Old Ones Beyond goes into the gap on the large cage’s floor, beside the stairs. The large gold double gate is open at 22:49, and the player goes inside.

This is a recorded working setup. It does not establish that these are the only usable books, or test the minimum possible number of filled slots.

First, match the large double gate

You want the tall gold lattice enclosure above the middle library’s six-book sorting room. Look for the large double gate beside the stairs. The comparison below shows that same gate before and after the last recorded book input.

The small food cage is a separate landmark. Its opening is not being used as proof here: the pictured large double gate is the one the player opens and crosses.

1. Fill the upper-gallery gap

Go up to the gallery near the blue-gem bug statue and inspect the bookcase along the outer wall. The target is a narrow gap among the large book spines, rather than one of the six numbered subject shelves.

In this run, the player selects Koko’s Sapphic Adventure around 22:15. Its pink-red spine is visibly placed in the shelf at 22:16. Leave it in place while you find the other gap.

2. Fill the gap on the cage’s floor

Return to the floor with the large gold gate. Inspect the bookcase beside the cage and the foot of the stairs. Match the lower shelf row and the surrounding green book spines in the image.

Select The Old Ones Beyond, as shown at 22:46. At 22:47 its dark spine is visible in the gap. This is a different shelf from the upper-gallery slot.

3. Return to the double gate and go through

Check the large gold double gate itself. In the same recorded sequence, it was closed at 22:31; after the cage-floor book input, both leaves stand open at 22:49. The player crosses the threshold and is inside the enclosure by 23:00.

If your view still shows an intact gold gate across the doorway, compare both shelf locations and check that the books remain inserted. This guide does not establish a reset or bug-fix procedure for a gate that stays shut.

Avoid the three common mix-ups

Is this the six-book sorting answer?
No. The six numbered subject positions belong to the separate middle-room puzzle. The opening shown here uses ordinary bookshelf gaps on two levels, and the large upper gate is visibly opened.
Do I need three random books?
The original Steam reply mentions three upper-area slots, but it does not demonstrate their individual effects. This page follows the two named inputs and the resulting large-gate opening that are actually visible in the recording. It does not claim that any random combination or a minimum-slot rule has been tested.
Are Koko and The Old Ones Beyond the only books that work?
That is not established. They are the exact two selections visible in this successful sequence, so they are the combination documented here. Different titles and consumption or retrieval rules are outside this verification.
